Dave McLeish, one of the most experienced soccer coaches in Southern California, has just finished four years as head coach of the Southern California Seahorses of the Premier Development League (PDL) of the United Soccer Leagues. McLeish, who has also coached college, high school, and club teams for 30 years, guided the Seahorses to a 44-27-6 overall record in the past four PDL seasons including a record of 12-6-1 against the professional Pro Select League. In 2002, McLeish coached the Seahorses to a 13-8 mark, winning the Western Conference championship and advancing to the national final four. He also took the team on an international tour to Guatemala finishing 9-1-0 against professional teams.
Dave has coached from youth levels to regional ODP programs. He served as the Region IV Boy's ODP Head Coach for the Western United States. Dave graduated from Cal State Long Beach with a bachelor's in physical education and a minor in Spanish. He coached soccer at Cerritos Junior College (1978-81), Biola University (1981-86) and Vanguard University in Costa Mesa (1986-2001), Santiago College (2001-2005), leading teams to the playoffs fourteen times and over 200 college wins. In addition, McLeish coached high school soccer teams at Edison, Dana Hills and Marina high schools in Orange County, Calif., spanning 25 seasons. His teams won ten league championships and over 300 games. Dave holds a USSF "A" license. From 1984-98, he brought more than 1,300 coaches into the ranks as a state licensing coach for the CYSA-S. He has helped to develop numerous college, professional, Olympic and national team players.
