Guided Walking Tours of Campus

Soka University offers 1 ½ hour guided walking tours with trained student tour guides at 10 am and 2 pm, Monday through Friday (and Saturdays with confirmed appointments*) for:
- High School Student Campus Tour
(high school student touring individually or with family members) - Adapted High School Student Campus Tour
(physically challenged high school student interested in touring campus) - High School Group Campus Tours
(group of 10 or more High School students - cap per visit is 75 - touring with counselors - minimum one week notification) - Community Visitors, Middle School or Elementary Groups, Scout Tours
(refers to visitors from the community or community organizations who are not prospective students)
Please click on the appropriate tour category above and fill out the registration form for your tour or call 949.480.4083. All tours begin on the first floor of Founders Hall (the domed building at the front of campus). This is your chance to see:
- Founders Hall including the to-scale campus map, Art Gallery, 3rd Fl Meeting Room and Board Room
- Soka Performing Arts Center (1000-seats)
- Maathai Hall (blackbox theatre, classrooms)
- Pauling Hall classrooms
- Ikeda Library and 4th Fl Reading Room
- Lily ponds and campus green
- Pauling Hall 216 (classroom theatre)
- Student Center, where you'll find the Soka Bistro and SUA Bookstore.
- Recreation Center and Residence Halls will also be shown to tours with prospective students.
Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes (we don’t recommend high heels!) and allow at least 1 ½ hours for walking tours and more time if you would like to visit the SUA Bookstore (closed on weekends) or have lunch at the Soka Bistro ($9.50 for all you can eat including dessert and beverage). The Bistro is open for lunch from 11:30-1:30 during weekdays and offers brunch from 10:30-12:30 on weekends. This is a great place to meet SUA students, staff and faculty. An electric cart for those with disabilities is available with advance reservations specifying that the cart is needed. A cart driver may not be available if you don’t make prior reservations.
If you can’t come M-F, a special appointment can be made at 10 am or 2 pm on Saturday. Note that college advisors are not available to talk to you on Saturdays and many SUA students may not be on campus. If you choose the Saturday option, please remember that a student tour guide is giving up their Saturday time just for you, so please let us know before 4 pm on Friday if you must cancel for any reason.
