Soka University of America (Aliso Viejo, California) seeks a Professor of Japanese language and culture (at any rank) to fill a full-time, tenure-track position that begins on August 1, 2010.
QUALIFICATIONS: PhD in Japanese pedagogy, literature, linguistics, second language acquisition, or related fields; native or near-native command of Japanese; demonstrable commitment to and excellence in teaching Japanese language and culture courses at all levels; ability and willingness to teach across disciplines with colleagues from other areas in some of SUA's multi-disciplinary courses and to contribute to the General Education program.
Soka University of America requires all undergraduates to take four semesters of a foreign language and one semester of study abroad. No language major is offered at SUA.
