How to Apply 

2016-2017 Graduate Financial Aid Information

  • Domestic Graduate Students must complete the FAFSA online at fafsa.ed.gov.

All applications are due March 31, 2016.

Scholarships & Grants

  • Graduate Merit Scholarship

    • Based on Admission Information
  • Soka Graduate Grant

    • Based on Financial Aid Application/ FAFSA

Federal Direct Loan Program for Domestic Students (studentaid.ed.gov)

Stafford Unsubsidized Loans

  • May borrow up to $20,500 per academic year
  • 6-month grace period (which begins after you graduate, withdraw, or enroll below half-time)
  • Repayment begins on the day after your grace period ends
  • 2016-2017 Fixed Interest Rate: 5.84%
  • Loan Fee: 1.069% (from October 1, 2015 to October 1, 2016)

Graduate PLUS Loan

  • May borrow up to the cost of attendance minus other financial aid received
  • Loan approval is based on a credit check
  • Loan is deferred while you are enrolled at least half-time and for an additional six months after you cease to be enrolled at least half-time (4 units)
  • 2016-2017 Fixed Interest Rate: 6.84%
  • Loan Fee: 4.276% (from October 1, 2015 to October 1, 2016)

Soka Loan Program for International Students

  • Soka Graduate Loan
  • 2016-2017 Fixed Interest Rate: 6.0%
  • May borrow up to the cost of attendance minus other financial aid received
  • 6-month grace period (which begins after you graduate, withdraw, or enroll below half-time)
  • Repayment begins on the day after your grace period ends

Disbursement of Funds

  • Fall and Spring financial aid is scheduled to be disbursed after the add/drop date of each term.  All financial aid awards will be applied to university charges first (tuition, health insurance, room &board, etc.).  If there is a credit balance, you will receive your refund check 2 weeks after the add/drop date of each term.
  • Refund checks are to be picked up from the Office of Student Accounts unless Direct Deposit form has been submitted.

 

Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)

You must meet SAP to maintain eligibility for financial aid. 

  • 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • Must complete program within 2 years
