New Undergraduate Admission TOEFL Requirement coming for Fall 2018 applicants
Students anticipating applying to Soka University of America for Fall 2018 will need to begin preparing for an additional application checklist requirement. The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) will be a required test score submission. This addition will help provide an opportunity for our International applicants to provide additional insight on their English comprehension measures in reading, writing, listening and speaking in addition to the scores and samples obtained through the SAT and ACT exams and writing supplements.
Who is required to take the TOEFL?
Any applicant whose native language is not English is required to submit a TOEFL score report.
How does Soka University of America receive TOEFL score reports?
Students are required to request an official TOEFL score report be sent directly to the Soka University of America, Office of Admission from TOEFL. Scores not sent directly from TOEFL will not be considered. Soka University’s school code for TOEFL is 4720.
I am an International Student attending high school in the United States, do I still have to take the TOEFL?
If you are a non-native English speaker who has completed at least 3 years of high school or graduated from a high school where English is the primary language of instruction, the TOEFL may be waived.
Is the SAT or ACT exam still required?
Yes, the SAT and ACT is required. It is important that you take the SAT with Essay or ACT with writing. SAT Scores without Essay and ACT scores without writing will not be considered.
Will my TOEFL scores be considered if I have them sent after the application deadline?
All TOEFL score reports must be received by the Office of Admission on or prior to each application deadline:
Early Action Deadline………………...November 1
Regular Admission Deadline………...January 15
