Train with the World's Best

SUA has made a staunch commitment to the pursuit of extraordinary student-athletes and providing the requisite facilities to assist in their training and competition. The existing facilities have been designed to accommodate training at the most elite levels, as evidenced as by those who have chosen Soka for their professional athletics training.

Soka has hosted some of the NFL's brightest young stars in their off-season training, including 2002 Heisman Trophy winner and 2003 #1 draft choice Carson Palmer, Detroit Lion quarterback Joey Harrington, and Super Bowl running back DeShaun Foster of the Carolina Panthers. Others training on SUA fields and weight rooms include Major League Baseball phenom Rocco Baldelli of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, California Angels #1 pick and 2004 NCAA Player of the Year Jered Weaver, Oakland A's pitcher Seth Etherton, and World Series pitcher Rick Ankiel of the St. Louis Cardinals. Also, international pitching sensation Daisuke Matsuzaka trained at Soka University during the winter of 2007 to prepare for his inaugural season with the Boston Red Sox.

Some of the world's finest training organizations and professionals have also chosen Soka as their preferred site for training athletes.

The world's finest swimmers continue to train at Soka University. Olympic and World Champion medalists are in the water each day in the aquatics complex, and have included Amanda Beard, Aaron Peirsol, Lenny Krayzelberg, Jason Lezak, Gabrielle Rose, Staciana Stitts, Hayley Peirsol, Dave Deniston, Scott Tucker, Rachel Komisarz, Brad Schumacher, Diana McManus, and Colleen Lanne. As host to the Novaquatics Swim Club, Soka has seen our facility appear on national television in both the US and Japan, as well as numerous other print and electronic media.

Some of the world's finest training organizations and professionals have also chosen Soka as their preferred site for training athletes. The leading agent in Major League Baseball, Scott Boras, and his Boras Sports Training Institute, and Athletes First and football super agent Dave Dunn have targeted SUA as the premier training destination for their clients. Additionally, IMG, Velocity Sports, Pateadores Football Club (featuring guest coaches from the men's soccer programs at national powers UCLA, Duke, Santa Clara, and Saint Louis), and former Mr. Universe, Dr. Chuck Williams have each brought their athletes to Soka to maximize their training efforts.

SUA's facilities have also become a preferred site for Hollywood and Madison Avenue.  Filming and photo shoots for commercials, videos and films are frequently hosted by SUA athletic facilities.  Paramount Pictures' "Elizabethtown" starring Orlando Bloom and Kirsten Dunst, and written and directed by Cameron Crowe, filmed several key scenes at SUA in the Fall of 2004. "Magic Fundamentals", Magic Johnson's DVD for youth players starring Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Carmelo Anthony, Amare Stoudamire, Rip Hamilton and Diana Taurasi was also filmed at SUA in the Summer of 2004.
