Robert Cazimero Halau Na Kamalei

Robert Cazimero & Hālau Nā Kamalei O Līlīlehua

Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 8:00 PM

For Hawaiians, coming of age in the 1970’s was a turbulent time, but for Robert Cazimero it was the time when he discovered himself and his life’s purpose…Hawaiian music and the art of hula. He graduated as part of Aunty Ma`iki Aiu Lake’s Papa 'Uniki Lehua, where he was infused with her vision of him starting an all male halau (hula school). With the knowledge passed on from Ma’iki Aiu coupled with his own talent and passion, Robert continues to lead Hālau Nā Kamalei o Līlīlehua, known as the only all male hula halau that exists in the world today.  Robert and Hālau Nā Kamalei o Lililehua were the subject of the award-winning film Nā Kamalei: The Men Of Hula, and winners of the Overall, Overall – Kane, Hula Kahiko – Kane and Hula ‘Auana – Kane  at the 42nd Annual Merrie Monarch Festival in 2005.
