Award-Winning Harp-Guitarist Brings New Multi-Media Show to Soka Performing Arts Center

Aliso Viejo, CA – Muriel Anderson performs at Soka’s Black Box Theatre on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 8 p.m. Single tickets are $30 for adults; and $26 for students, seniors and active military families. Tickets for groups of 10 or more are $25 each. Purchase tickets online at PerformingArts.Soka.edu or by calling 949-480-4ART (4278).

Anderson’s new audio-visual show, “Wonderlust,” showcases her world-renowned guitar and harp-guitar playing against a backdrop of stunning visuals by celebrated photo-artist Bryan Allen. She will be supported by French musician Mino Cinelu on percussion.

Anderson is the first woman to have won the National Fingerstyle Guitar Championship and is one of the few international touring guitarists equally at home with fingerstyle, bluegrass, classical, freeform and international music. She has recorded with country legend Chet Atkins, performed with jazz greats Les Paul and Victor Wooten and with classical orchestras. Her recent album “Nightlight-Daylight” placed first in its category in 11 national awards, and is the first ever to incorporate interactive fiber optics.

Anderson received a degree in music from DePaul University and went on to study with classical virtuoso Christopher Parkening and with Nashville legend Chet Atkins. She has composed music since about age five, and has written solo instrumentals and vocals, choral and orchestral compositions. Founder of the acclaimed semi-annual live show, Anderson’s All Star Guitar Night, she enjoys sharing her joy of music via her charity, the Music-For-Life Alliance, which supports music education for young people.

Mino Cinelu, as a teenager, toured and recorded with musical giants Miles Davis, Weather Report, Herbie Hancock, Stevie Wonder and Lou Reed. Cinelu’s multi-instrument collaborations and facility with a wide range of styles established him as a formidable talent. Today, he is a renowned composer, producer and band leader. Cinelu’s latest project, the World Jazz Ensemble, showcases his maturity as a musician and his boundless passion for new sounds.
