Sam·i·te  (Sæm ē tay) n.  1.a. World-renowned musician, b. Humanitarian, c. Photographer. 2. Born and raised in Uganda. 3. Travels the world with his organization, Musicians for World Harmony, spreading a message of peace and hope through the healing power of music. Samite’s smooth vocals accompanied by the kalimba, marimba, litungu, and various flutes captivate audiences around the world.

Middle Eastern Music with Niyaz featuring Azam Ali

“An evolutionary force in contemporary Middle Eastern music” (Huffington Post), Niyaz—led by vocalist Azam Ali and Loga Ramin Torkian on oud and kamaan—seamlessly blend medieval Sufi poetry and folk songs from their native region with rich, acoustic instrumentation and modern electronic rhythms for “an alluring combination of medieval Persian exoticism and beats that are state of the art” (Billboard).

Indian Fusion Music with Kiran Ahluwalia
Friday, February 16, 2018, at 8:00 p.m.

Kiran Ahluwalia is a modern exponent of the vocal traditions of India and Pakistan, though her original compositions also embrace influences from both the West and Africa, specifically the Sahara. With her 5-piece group of electric and acoustic guitar, harmonium, tabla, and electric bass, Ahluwalia creates boundary-breaking songs that explore the human condition, transcendence, and love.

Latin Rock with Grammy Winner La Santa Cecilia

Winner of the Grammy Award for Best Latin Rock Album, La Santa Cecilia exemplifies the modern-day creative hybrid of Latin culture, rock, and world music. The group draws inspiration from all over the world, utilizing Pan-American rhythms including cumbia, bossa nova, rumba, bolero, tango, jazz, and klezmer music. Their unique sounds and colorful, passionate performances guarantee a fun night.

Current Package Holder Renewals begin on May 9.

Current series package holder renewals will begin on May 9, 2017 using our online renewal system. Current package holders will receive a special renewal email notice with instructions and a link to renew their current seats. Current package holder seats will be held for renewal until June 6, 2017. After that date, seats that are not renewed will be released for general sale. Renewal Instructions

Online Package Sales for new package subscribers will begin on June 13.

New series package requests will begin on June 13, 2017. An email notice will be sent out to all Soka Performing Arts Center patrons just prior to that date.

Package Sales end the day of the first performance in the series. At that time you may Create Your Own Series with these and other events.

Single-Event Tickets go on sale July 11.

Tickets for individual events (Single-Event Tickets) will go on sale July 11, 2017. At that time, you may purchase any or all of the individual performances.
