Dear Friends,
As many of you may have heard, Ustad Zakir Hussain, widely regarded as the greatest tabla player of his generation and one of the most extraordinary percussionists of all time, passed away last December. A true maestro, he redefined the art of tabla, transcending genres and bringing Indian classical music to audiences around the world. His rhythms spoke a universal language, bridging cultures and touching hearts. Beyond his legendary performances, Ustad Zakir Hussain was a dedicated mentor, inspiring younger generations and fostering a deep appreciation for music.
In light of his passing, we have sought a meaningful way to honor his legacy and provide an opportunity for our patrons to pay tribute. Our friends at the Festival of Tabla, which takes place each summer at Soka Performing Arts Center and brings some of the world’s most renowned tabla players to our stage, also share a deep connection with Ustad Zakir Hussain and wished to join us in celebrating his mastery and contributions to the world of music.
Together, we have decided to partner in commemorating Ustad Zakir Hussain by offering a special opportunity for those who held tickets to his scheduled performance:
