The panel will offer insights on the limits and possibilities for global direct democracy in the 21st century. From the Tea Party and Occupy Wall Street in the United States to landless workers occupying land in Brazil, to villagers challenging powerful rebel rulers in Indonesia, the panelists will analyze the ways different political, economic, and social systems structure how and when resistance may take place.
