Michael Curtis is the Deputy Director of the Office of Sustainable Development in the Bureau for Africa at the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The Office of Sustainable Development’s single most important role is providing strategic and technical leadership in support of all economic and social development programs for the United States Agency for International Development in sub -Saharan African countries. With a budget of approximately $120 million per year, the Office provides vital analytical support to bilateral and regional missions in the areas of economic development, democracy and governance, conflict, anticorruption, natural resources management, environmental protection, agriculture, health, population, and education. Dr. Curtis provides leadership and management in the strategic planning, analysis, and technical support of all of the Office’s programs and activities.
