Hideyuki Hiruma '05

Hide has a diverse background in sustainability, focusing on forest conservation and urban planning. As a GIS analyst, web developer, and data science instructor, he has worked at organizations such as The Nature Conservancy, Shenandoah Valley Electric Cooperative, and Bridgewater College. Currently, at the Green Infrastructure Center, he conducts GIS analyses for urban tree planting. Outside of work, he enjoys cooking with his wife and cherishing time with his daughters.

Masayuki Takeuchi '13
Masayuki Takeuchi is a proud SUA graduate of Class of 2013. He currently works as a postdoctoral scientist at University of Colorado Boulder, where he develops and applies statistical and machine learning approaches to identify chemical composition of airborne particulate matter. Fascinated by the highly complex nature of atmospheric chemistry, his overall research goal has been to advance our understanding of chemical processes that affect air quality. 

Nate Maynard '12
Nate Maynard is an independent environmental advisor with 15 years of extensive experience in carbon, ocean conservation, and the circular economy. Formerly a Fulbright fellow in Taiwan, he helped grow RE100's renewable energy commitment. Now based in London, he advises companies on ambitious plastic reduction targets and effective environmental communication strategies. Nate also hosts the award-winning podcast "Waste Not Why Not," featuring insightful interviews with experts on pressing ecological challenges. 

Bhamini Jain '17
Bhamini is a sustainability expert with a focus on climate change, food systems, and human rights. With a Master's in Global Environmental Policy, they combine academic research and practical experience across sectors. Bhamini's work emphasizes social and environmental justice, leading workshops and publishing research on intersectional sustainability. They are dedicated to fostering equitable solutions for global challenges and bridging divides through collaborative approaches.

This is a hybrid event that will take place in Ikeda 216B as well as on Zoom. Open to the Soka Community as well as the general public.
